The Use of Recycled Plastic in Italy: the Plastic Second Life experience

Maria Cristina Poggesi is Director of IPPR – Institute for the Promotion of Recycled Plastics, with the role of coordination and development of association activities, aimed at consolidating the use of recycled polymers in national industry and the knowledge of these materials among public and private clients.
IPPR has developed expertise of the highest level in Italy and Europe that allows it to certify with the "Plastic Second Life" mark the materials and products obtained from the valorisation of plastic waste or by-products.
The updated data of the research, commissioned to Plastic Consult, relating to the use of recycled plastics in Italy were presented, namely:
- volumes of recycled plastics, both from industrial and post-consumer waste, absorbed by the national processing industry;
- breakdown by polymer and by main application sectors;
- evolution of the sectoral scenario, potential and limits to the development of the use of plastics from industrial and post-consumer waste.
