From Ocean to Opportunity: Making recycled content work for your brand
Patrick Todd
Vice President of Sales
Oceanworks
Patrick was the original co-founder of Oceanworks. His goal was clear: to prevent plastic from ending up in the environment. He spent years in the field in underdeveloped regions and saw the same problems repeated over and over again. Waste disposal systems are inefficient. Local groups do not receive support. Large quantities of material are left unhandled and end up directly in the environment.
The presentation illustrates what Patrick learned from these visits. It explains why clean-up is still necessary and why it needs to be supported by businesses. Only 9% of plastic is recycled worldwide. 7% of this is downcycled. If your company uses less than 9% recycled content, it says you're part of the problem. His message is firm but right. You can change that.
Oceanworks offers a way to be part of the solution. It is expanding into European manufacturing and introducing a new advanced recycling technology called Trident. This process uses soft extrusion to produce cleaner, more uniform material with lower gels and a more natural appearance.
Patrick's point of view is simple. You cannot wait for others to act. Your decisions shape the future supply chain. You can support clean-up and you can support the regions that need it most. The choice is yours.
