What is Zylar®?

Methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) with exceptional transparency, practical toughness and excellent processability.
Zylar® is an impact-modified styrenic copolymer that combines glass-like transparency with outstanding toughness and ease of processing. Designed to bridge the gap between brittle transparent plastics and higher-cost engineering materials, Zylar® offers excellent optical properties, low density, good chemical resistance and superior flow characteristics.

Where is Zylar® used?

Reusable drinkware and sports bottles. Water filtration components. Medical reservoirs and connectors. Transparent appliance housings and tanks. Food storage containers. Cosmetic packaging. Office and consumer products.
Zylar® is particularly well suited to applications that require both transparency and durability. Unlike many clear plastics that sacrifice toughness for aesthetics, Zylar® combines high optical quality with strong impact resistance, helping products withstand daily handling, drops and repeated use. Its low moisture absorption and excellent flow properties also simplify moulding and support the production of complex, high-quality parts.
What approvals and certifications does Zylar® have?
Zylar® grades are available with food-contact approvals, drinking-water-contact support and a healthcare package. Zylar® grades supported through the INEOS Styrolution Essential HD Healthcare Package are manufactured under enhanced quality processes and can be supplied with USP Class VI documentation, ISO 10993 compliance and a Drug Master File (DMF). Customers may also benefit from up to 12 months NOC* (Notification of Change) and the assurance of a locked formulation for critical applications.
